And I hope everyone had an enjoyable annual gift day.

The doorbell rang around noon, it was the letter carrier (our new super nice, utterly competent letter carrier, a welcome replacement for U.S. Ponytail's lazy ass) with a present from my niece, Nycke. I open the package and see what looks like a pair of Daisy Dukes, and think to myself, "Okay, why is she sending me slut shorts? Does she think I look dowdy?" I take it out of the bag and see it's really a tote bag made from a pair of DKNY jeans. Relief ensues.

[livejournal.com profile] lrc  also sent me a present that arrived late, an off camera slave strobe that can be put into a clamp lamp and placed anywhere you can attached the lamp to. Now I have to find uses for it. I don't do much portrait work, but It will probably be useful when one of Brett's model friends is in town for a visit and wants to sit for us.

I also got a rain cover for my DSLR, for those rare days it's raining and I decide I simply must be outside with my camera. It's actually very cool. I almost want to find some crap weather just so I can take it out for a test drive.

I really need to get out and shoot more. I haven't been to Balboa Park in ages, and the LA Flickr group is organizing a Joshua Tree meet, I might just have to sign up for that.

Went to the doctor today, talked about my troublesome womanly problems and she mentioned the H word, which I will admit wasn't at all upsetting to me. She explained the procedure details and said I should think on it for a bit and call her nurse if I decide I want to schedule it. I'm a little squicked at the thought of more surgery, but the payoff is it solves the problems altogether and I can stop eating pain killers for 6 days out of every month and feeling like a zombie all that time. It's not like I plan on using the damn thing at this stage of my life, so why keep it? Have to discuss some logistics with Brett, but I'm thinking sooner is better than later, so I will shoot for having it done before the end of the month.

I gave Allison and Alea their gifts today. Allison got tempted and opened hers about an hour after I gave it to her, then ran over to production to thank me. I also gave Allison a gift for her little boy, Max. Not that those three presents were heavy, but Max's was pretty bulky, so I could only pack and carry those three to work and every one else has to wait until Friday. I still have a bunch of little gifts to bring to work tomorrow, and that will take care of my co-workers.

I mailed a bunch of things yesterday, including Aaron and Patrice's presents. Considering how late I'm getting this stuff mailed out, the post office was relatively painless last night. It only took about 20 minutes to get through the line and everything done. I have to FedEx Larry's present and that heavy ass box of gifts me and mom are sending back for my sisters in DC, and I do mean heavy. I don't look forward to finding out how much FedEx will charge to ship and insure that monster. Those have to go out on Friday

Then aside from getting my mother's gift wrapped up, and putting away all the boxes that hold the decorations, I'm all done with all that X-mas prep jazz and can relax. No more heavy lifting until after the new year.

Brett got his X-mas present early. I had meant to get him a new TV anyway, since the one he had was fritzing out. Well, it finally went kerflooey last week (causing me to miss most of the second half of the Heat-Pistons game, which was utterly unforgivable), so this weekend, we went to Best Buy and got him a new TV.

He didn't totally believe me when I told him he was getting the TV for X-mas anyway, he thought I would get him one of the things he asked for on his X-mas list, but he should know by now I never get him the stuff on his wish lists, I get him things he needs but is too slow to get for himself, cuz, hey, let's face it, he'd have sat there banging on that old TV set of his, trying to make it work until the cows came home, thus causing me to miss a lot of Friday night basketball games, and that just won't do.

So, the HMB has his present early, and he's quite happy with it. Yet, for some reason, there was a shocking lack of nudity/lap dancing in his thank you. I'll have to remind him to correct that this week.

I didn't realize it at the time, but we ended up getting him the exact same TV I have.

Well, [livejournal.com profile] lrc, bad boy that he is, opened his present a little early and called me right after to say thanks. When I went looking for his present, I wasn't sure what to get him. I knew he liked Hot Wheels, but just didn't know which ones to get. But, then I went to the Mattel factory outlet store in El Segundo and, how do ya like that, they sell Hot Wheels by the box there, so I got him a box, 56 cars, to add to his 800+ collection.

Well, I'm glad you like your present, Larry. I know you'll have fun with it.

I got Larry's present, and I got my brother's present for our mom. Now I need to get him to sit still for pictures to send to our sisters.

10 down, 3 to go.
