So, my mother found out that first cousins can marry in California, which grosses her out, cuz that's like marrying your brother or sister. So, she asked the question, why let first cousins marry but not gay people? If first cousins can marry, they should let gay people marry.

Really, the woman who used to disrupt my basketball viewing to argue against gay marriage now suddenly thinks it's okay, not because she suddenly loves gay people, but because straight people are doing something that she thinks is much, much worse.

I'm gonna go get myself a drink.

Oh, yes she did.

I've posted before about my mother and her attitudes toward gay people. Well, she done up and said the the one thing you never say if you're trying to convince someone you're not prejudice.

While talking about dumb blonde of the moment Carrie Prejean, of course the topic turns to gay people, and of course she goes on with the same old blah blah about gay people.

Then, she said it.

In the midst of her going on about  how she doesn't like the gay rights movement, she doesn't think she should have to accept gay people, and so on, she said the one sentence, that, when uttered in such a context, completely and irrevocably screams, "I'm prejudiced!"

What, you wonder, did she say?

"Why, some of my best friends are gay."
