Jun. 23rd, 2005 11:46 amCalifornia has an electronics recycling fee? The Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003 requires that consumers pay a fee on certain electronics purchases to cover the cost of recycling and disposal. The law applies to all products with video displays greater than 4" wide. For notebook computers, the fee (really, it's a tax) is $6.00.
So, in addition to the damn sales tax, you also get hit with a recycling fee. How lovely.
Not that it stopped me from buying the damn iBook mind you, so I suppose it's a good thing I paid off my credit card this month.
