This question brought back a few nice old memories.

My favorite toy was a stuffed dog I named Charlie. I made him when I was about 6 years old from a pattern my mother gave me. I didn't know how to sew using a sewing machine then, so I made Charlie completely by hand from red fabric with little black felt nose and eyes, and a white yarn bow on which I tied a little white necktie. Eventually, the white bow and tie became dingy, so I replaced it with a black bow. I didn't put another necktie on him, though.

I still have Charlie. He's sitting on top of the bureau in my bedroom. He's held up very well over the years, much better than any of the other stuffed toys I made when I was a kid, since he's still here looking very much the same as he did way back when I first made him, while the rest are long gone, lost to irreparable wear and tear. Charlie went to a lot of places with me. When I stayed with the grandparents for the summer, Charlie went with me. When I visited relatives, Charlie would also visit. He even went to school with me a few times, tucked safely in my book bag. I absolutely adored Charlie back then, and I adore him now.
